Malcolm Deane
Malcolm was appointed CEO and Managing Director of ALS in March 2023. With over a decade of executive leadership in the scientific analysis industry across North and South America, he has a proven track record of delivering stakeholder value and positive client outcomes. He previously led ALS' Life Sciences and Food and Pharmaceutical businesses and later served as Chief Strategy Officer, driving corporate strategy, business development and key acquisitions. Malcolm’s authentic, purpose-driven leadership fosters innovation and globally inclusive teams. He holds a Juris Doctor from Austral University in Buenos Aires and a Master of Laws from the University of Virginia.
Stuart Hutton
Stuart Hutton joined ALS in February 2024 as Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for leading the global finance function, including financial planning and analysis, investor relations, treasury and tax. With more than 20 years of senior finance experience, Stuart has held key leadership roles across ASX-listed global organisations such as Foxtel, Orora and Amcor. He brings a strong track record in strategic business partnering, and deep expertise in the identification, funding and integration of mergers and acquisitions. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant in Australia and holds a Bachelor of Business from Swinburne University.
Heike Truol
Heike is a seasoned strategic and commercial leader with over 25 years of experience driving innovation, transformation and performance across global organisations in technology, resources and consulting. As Chief Strategy Officer at ALS, Heike plays a key role in advancing our vision and shaping ALS’ long-term growth to benefit clients. She has deep industry knowledge across the full mining, metals, logistics and global shipping value chain, and has led high-performing teams across Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia. An experienced, strategic advisor and executive, Heike is passionate about incubating and creating new business opportunities. She also serves as a Non-Executive Director at Clarkson plc.
Thibault Bonneton
With a strong background in data, AI and finance, Thibault is a digital transformation expert. Previously as Chief Digital, Data and AI Officer at Orange, he led initiatives to enhance digital customer experiences and optimise network operations using AI. Now as ALS’ Chief Digital and Information Officer, Thibault drives innovation by integrating emerging technologies, strengthening cybersecurity and improving data management and digital solutions across our global operations. He works closely with leaders worldwide to balance global standards with regional needs, fostering a culture of curiosity and innovation that supports ALS’ long-term growth and competitive edge.
Tim Kilmister
With more than 30 years with ALS, including 25 in the Environmental business, Tim has built deep operational and strategic expertise through a range of senior leadership roles, including multiple General Manager positions across Asia and the Pacific. As Executive General Manager of the global Environmental division, Tim drives business planning, M&A, client engagement, staff development, sustainability and governance. Passionate about science and environmental progress, Tim works with a dedicated management team to support clients in meeting regulatory and sustainability goals, while helping position ALS at the forefront of environmental industry innovation.
Bruce McDonald
After more than 20 years as a customer, Bruce joined ALS to lead our business in North America. He quickly became a key team member, guiding the business through rapid growth and economic challenges. Throughout his 21-year tenure at ALS, Bruce has held multiple senior leadership roles and starting in 2009, oversaw the company’s global Geochemistry division. Now as Executive General Manager for the global Minerals business, Bruce manages a broader portfolio including metallurgy, mine production testing services, geochemistry and geoanalytics. Known for his genuine support of his team, Bruce consistently exemplifies ALS’ culture and values with a positive, people-focused approach.
Shawn Hood
Shawn is an accredited professional geologist with over 20 years of experience in mining and mineral exploration. Since 2019, he has led ALS Geoanalytics (formerly ALS GoldSpot), guiding its growth from a small startup to a recognised industry leader. Under his leadership, the company has leveraged AI-driven data integration and interpretation to boost discovery success and automate complex geological tasks. Shawn supports clients with data strategies and workflows across a range of commodities and mining stages. A respected thought leader, published author and international speaker, Shawn also teaches master-level courses on machine learning in mineral exploration as an Associate at the University of Tasmania.
Michele Ramshaw
As General Manager, Global Geochemistry, Michele oversees our Geochemistry business. Her decades long career with ALS has spanned a range of roles, beginning at the bench in the analytical laboratory and progressing through key quality leadership positions, including North America Quality Manager and Global Quality Manager. In these roles, she drove method standardisation and ensured delivery of technical client service. Later, as Technical Services Director and then VP of Innovation and Technical Services, she led product development, enhanced internal efficiencies, and managed a portfolio of global clients. Michele continues to play a key role in setting strategic directions aligned with ALS values and advancing industry-leading instrumentation and practices.
Phillip Kennedy
With more than 25 years of operations and management experience at ALS, Phillip leads the Environmental business in Queensland as State Manager. His international postings with the business have given him a global perspective on local challenges, which he applies to deliver client-focused solutions. A passionate ALS advocate and brand ambassador, Phillip demonstrates a strong alignment with ALS values and a clear commitment to innovation - with a particular focus on harnessing new technologies to enhance the client experience. Through close collaboration with software vendors, he has also played a key role in positioning ALS as a global leader in digital and data management.
Michael Williams
Michael is ALS’ Group Treasurer, Investor Relations and Business Integration Director, with over 20 years at the company. He leads the Group’s Investor Relations function, providing a key connection to equity markets, and while overseeing the Group Treasury function. Michael also leads financial support for ALS’ M&A assessment, execution, and integration activities, having played a central role in recent transactions including Nuvisan and Wessling. His background spans treasury management, corporate finance, debt capital markets, ASX compliance and financial reporting. Michael’s experience and leadership contribute to advancing ALS’ strategy and delivering long-term value through growth and integration.
